Going on a road trip!

We're off to Saskatoon tomorrow after lunch. Kristin and the kids are heading to Susan's place for a couple of days. With any luck, a visit to Sears portrait studio will be a part of the trip. Haven't done studio shots of the kids since Norah was 3 months old. A visit to the Fun Factory is also in order. Norah will be old enough to enjoy it more this time. Lots to climb and slide on. And coffee...coffee. All within walking distance.

on a roll

Ruby has started rolling over. At least, we think she has. Nobody has actually caught her in the act yet, but as of yesterday, we have put her on the floor and turned around to see her on her front instead of her back where she had been put. She is growing so fast, in no time at all, she'll be running after Isaac and Norah.

Today's art project

Today was an art project for mom!

Dying the new wool diaper cover. I forgot to do a before shot, but it was that natural, undyed wool beige colour.

2 packages of StrawberryKiwi and one pack of Strawberry Kool-aid later:
A lovely, not fully ripe slice of watermelon colour.
Now, it was during the addition of the package of Strawberry that I realised that I should have worn gloves.

"I'm Todd Bertuzzi, I'm Matthias Ohlund, I'm Marcus Naslund"

"He shoots! Oh...off the post He shoots! He scores!"

"I can use this as a hockey stick, right?"

"I wanna go downstairs and play hockey. Can I, can I?"

Hockey all the time. It's all about hockey here these days.

well that was fun

Bit of excitement here today. After church Kristin and the kids went to the movies! Curious George was playing at our local theatre, with a 1pm matinee. Went with C and her 6 year old daughter L (wouldn't have done it alone!) It was really great, actually. Isaac had a kids pack of popcorn and pop and was thrilled to sit and eat it all - except for the part he dropped on the floor. Norah was so excited by the big screen and music and jumped up and down in her seat for the first 15 minutes straight. Ruby snuggled, nursed and slept. Only a couple of rough moments. When Norah's seat kind of collapsed on her - you probably know what I mean by that - and she got stuck, and Ruby was nursing so it was hard to get her out. Isaac losing popcorn, and Norah finding it. Norah's sippy cup rolling under 2 rows of seats in front of us. Ruby crying for about 3 minutes. Other than that, it was great. Lots of fun. The movie was good too. Norah especially loved dancing to the music during the credits.

we love cloth!

A moment to mention the children's backsides. What's on them, what's going on with them.

Isaac is toilet trained in the daytime now. However, a little too tuned into his own body, he's a frequent pooper...at strange times. Like 7 am. But he's dry through preschool and short trips out. Longer car trips will still probably require a pull-up, but maybe not.

The girls are in cloth diapers, and we love it more and more. To think a year ago, we weren't sure if we wanted to go that route. Here we are, and it's wonderful - almost fun. So many fun styles and colours and fabrics. Wonderoos pockets. Sweet Bambino fitteds and covers. Chinese prefolds. Wool covers, wool longies and shorties. Baby legs. Snappis. BerryPlush AIO's and covers. Amazing wool soaps. It's a whole new language that's been fun to discover. Who knew it would be so much fun to diaper your kids? It's actually nice to fold them all and put them away.

This weekend, the plan is to dye the new wool cover that just arrived. Exciting stuff...hope it works!

A little ode to our cloth stash.

Pigtails on a grown up look young...but on a baby, they suddenly look so grown up.

This a plane, we're going to Vancouver. We're flying high in the
sky. We're going to land soon, better hold on. No, mommy we
don't get to watch a movie. You can't have a drink either, we
aren't allowed to drink on the couch.

Finger paint soap makes lots of bubbles. Apparently, they taste good too.

Notice Isaac had a hair cut?
